*FOCIP guided walk at Barnum Point Preserve

Saturday, June 19: Barnum Point Preserve (GTWE #68)
Participants wearing masks should meet at 9:30 at Barnum Point, the newest Island County park, which has been open since 2017. The walk is about 3.3 miles. Great views, a wetland, viewing platforms and benches fill this trail experience. Island County has a workshop and storage on the property. The walk starts from the parking lot at 278 Sunrise Boulevard, located near the south end of Sunrise Boulevard. The walk down to the beach at the east end of the park is on a fairly steep gravel road. The group will move slowly for this early on experience. Note there are two bench “rest stops” on the way back up! The rest of the walk is mostly level with a few slight gain areas. There are many good views along the way. No dogs, please. Tom Eisenberg of FOCIP will share how this park came into being.
