Vivien is a Climate Change Researcher with the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). She graduated from Western Washington University with BA in Urban Planning and Sustainable Development and specialized in disaster risk reduction and natural hazards planning. Her work for the DEP ranges from climate change planning through writing the Swinomish Tribe’s Climate Adaptation Action Plan 10+ Progress Update, educating communities on climate change and natural hazards, and conducting shoreline and sensitive area code-related project work. Her passion for environmental planning comes from her experience with typhoons, earthquakes, and flood events from growing up in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
