Cindy Hansen received a degree in Zoology from the University of Washington and has worked as a naturalist and educator for over 20 years. After volunteering with Orca Network for much of that time, she joined the staff as the Education and Advocacy Coordinator in 2016, working from her home on San Juan Island in addition to doing education, outreach, and advocacy throughout the region. Cindy also migrated with the gray whales to Laguna San Ignacio in Baja for many years where she worked as a naturalist/guide. She is a board member for the Orca Behavior Institute and Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, and she volunteers with the Animal Protection Society, fostering kittens who have on occasion been seen watching whales with her on the west side of San Juan Island.
