Sunday 24 July was a glorious day for the annual SWS picnic, this year at Deception Pass State Park’s West Beach Shelter, beach, and picnic area. The 50 attendees — Stewards, family, friends — had the perfect opportunity to reconnect with volunteers and Island Coordinators, and to meet new class members and our new Executive Director Judi Sladky. Since the pandemic with so few in-person gatherings, we were hungry for this open-air event and for the best ever mussels and bajillion delicious potluck offerings — all welcomed with glee.
Many thanks to all who attended, cooked, grilled, setup and cleaned up! And big thanks to the hosts and organizers — the Whidbey Social Events Planning Team — Sue, Marietta & Scott C, Vanessa, Kelli Jo, Nicole, Shannon, Lee B – M.C., Jill, Rachel, Nancy N, Tom V, Tabitha, Joan, Allie.
