I love the diversity of exhibits and classes we could participate in. It was so much fun! -- 1st Year Attendee
Sound Waters University brings together people passionate about life in Puget Sound. Held since the early 1990s on the first Saturday in February on Whidbey Island, WA, it now attracts 600+ people yearly. No prior knowledge is required to attend - just an interest in learning about and taking care of this amazing place that we call home.
Attendees can choose from 60 or so fun and informative classes and presentations about the natural world and the fragile environment of this special place in the Salish Sea.
The volunteer team begins planning for the next event in mid-late spring.
The website describing the 60+ classes and 80+ presenters usually goes live in mid-December, and online registration begins in late December.
Due to the popularity of this event, you must pre-register by mid-January. NO tickets are sold at the door.

The organization of this event is stupendous. Everything from on-line registration to the-day-of to recycling, clean-up and evaluation are just great. Everyone involved in the planning and implementation has my deepest gratitude. Well done! (SW.2016, 4th/5th Year Attendee)
I learned tons of new facts and enjoyed my first experience with Sound Waters greatly. I was especially impressed by the pedigree of presenters across the topic spectrum. (SW.2017, 1st year Attendee)
I was impressed with the quality of information. Because I work in environmental science, I wasn't sure if the classes would be dull and too simple. This was not the case and I really enjoyed the questions asked by other attendees. (SW.2017, 1st Year Attendee)
Makes my February! (SW.2017, 2nd/3rd Year Attendee)
Fantastic conference, extremely (!) well planned and a joy to attend. Can't wait until next year. (SW.2017, 4th/5th Year Attendee)
Great job as usual. I depend on you to keep me up to date on topics. I always learn a lot. Thanks to everyone who dedicated their time to produce this outstanding day. (SW.2017, 6th+ Year Attendee)
