Lisa Kaufman is the Director of Programs for NW Straits Foundation based in Bellingham. She manages nearshore habitat restoration project development, implementation, and supervision for the Foundation and its projects partners, including the Marine Resources Committees. She collaborates with project partners on all phases of the projects including feasibility, design, permitting, construction, monitoring, and oversight of work completed by contractors and partner organizations. Lisa also leads the Shore Friendly landowner outreach and incentive program to prevent and reduce the impacts of shoreline armoring.
Lisa talks about the history and funding of the NW Straits Commission and Foundation, how the MRCs (Marine Resource Committees) got started, and how Sound Water Stewards can help as community scientists working with our local MRC, plus provide an overview of all of the Foundation’s programs to preserve the Salish Sea ecosystems and habitats.
Recently Lisa Kaufman and Dr. Ian Miller collaborated on a Coastal Resilience and Sea Level Rise presentation which you can view online.
