Our Beaches

For information on accessing the more than 60 beaches on Whidbey and Camano Islands, we recommend "Getting to the Water's Edge", published in 2007, with strong input from Island County Beachwatchers.

"A Walk on the Beach" provides a quick overview of some of what you may find on our beaches. While there, please respect the diversity of intertidal life, by learning and practicing proper beach etiquette.

Walking on the beach is wonderful at any time, but particularly so when there are very low tides. Please look at the Tides page for information on when the best low tide times are, and links to informative articles about the tides.

See our EZ-ID at the Beach pages for wonderful pictures and descriptions of the animals, seaweeds, seagrasses, and shoreplants common to the Island County intertidal zone.
