County Commissioner Janet St Clair Honored Scott Chase

As Sarah Berquist of the WSU Waste Wise program said during the Award presentation, if you have lived on Camano for any length of time or participated within the volunteer community, you know Scott Chase. Although Scott spent several years as the Camano coordinator for WSU, he started as a volunteer and returned to volunteering upon retirement.

Scott is active in not just one volunteer program, but five, including Waste Wise, Lighthouse Environmental Program, Marine Resources Commission, Cama Beach Foundation, and Sound Water Stewards.

Sarah described why Scott deserves this award, “Scott’s superhero skills include an impressive memory, solid dedication, and an incredible talent with people. With genuine warmth, he brings people together throughout the community. With Waste Wise, Scott spends his volunteer time writing articles, co-managing community events, mentoring new people, networking and creating community connections, helping with administrative tasks, researching topics, and providing educational presentations and workshops. Scott is a volunteer hero.”
