Sound Water Stewards of Island County, WA
Working for a healthy, sustainable Salish Sea marine environment
In 2020, researchers at the University of Washington-Tacoma, Washington State University, and additional collaborators identified the connection between car tires, 6PPD-quinone, and pre-spawn mortality in coho salmon. In response to this discovery, WA State Dept of Ecology is taking action to protect humans and aquatic organisms from these chemicals, including closely monitoring ongoing research and conducting research of our own.
We invite you to attend our upcoming 6PPD webinar to learn more about our work addressing 6PPD and 6PPD-quinone. Agencies across the state have prepared materials so you can get up-to-speed before the webinar. We invite you to review these materials (below) before the webinar, then submit your questions using our comment form.
We will respond to as many questions as possible during the webinar. We will respond to any questions that we aren’t able to answer during the live event through our online comment form.
Important: Review key materials before the webinar (from Ecology, Dept of Health, Dept of Transportation, Puget Sound Partnership)
