Guide: Janet Hall
Janet is a lifelong nature enthusiast, passionate about sharing her discoveries of nature with others. Her entire career has revolved around forests, nature, research, and education. With a Bachelor’s degree in Forest Management and a Master’s degree in Forest Fire Management, Janet began her career as a Forester for a private timber company and then the US Forest Service.
She then worked for 20 years as an Environmental Educator for WSU/Island County Extension before joining the Washington State Parks as an Interpretive Specialist for Central Whidbey Parks from which she retired in 2019. Currently, she serves on the Board of the Whidbey Camano Land Trust and leads guided walks on Land Trust properties. Janet also leads birding field trips and classes for Whidbey Audubon.

Discover the amazing ecosystem of an old-growth forest.
Join Janet Hall, retired WA State Park Interpreter, for a fascinating walk through the cherished old-growth forest at South Whidbey State Park. Explore what makes a forest old-growth and the surprises nature reveals both above ground and below!
This guided walk will be 1.5 miles long and take 1.5 hours over moderately easy terrain with some stairs and roots. Not suitable for wheelchairs, walkers, or strollers.
