Following Sound Water Stewards (SWS) tradition of an annual potluck summer picnic, the 2022 Summer Picnic is hosted by Whidbey. Spouses and families are welcome to attend! Bring some games, and bring layers to wear as it can be either Sunny, and or breezy!
Location: Deception Pass West Beach Shelter (Directions in Getting to the Water’s Edge Guide site #1). A WASHINGTON STATE DISCOVER PASS is necessary to park. You can purchase an annual pass here for $35 or a $10 day pass at the park.
Directions to Deception Pass State Park, West Beach Shelter:
Remember to hang up your Discover Pass.
At the Shelter, don your name tag/lanyard, head inside to sign-in, & drop off your potluck dish.
Potluck: Please bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share! *Plus serving utensils :). We will supply mussels provided by Penn Cove Shellfish and prepared by our Sound Water Steward chefs. Barbecued brats and veggie burgers will also be supplied.
Penn Cove Shellfish provides mussels to us because we collect for them hundreds of wayward mussel disks. SWS members collect on local beaches. If you have any of these disks, please bring them to the picnic so we may collect them for next year’s picnic! SWS member Vance Wilsey is the volunteer lead for collecting mussel disks from members during the year and returning them to Penn Cove Shellfish.
