SPECIAL INVITATION: You might remember Ed and Joanne Van Patten, past active members of Beach Watchers and the South Whidbey community. Joanne passed in Sept 2019, and a memorial service was not possible because of the pandemic. Joanne’s children and some grandchildren will be honoring her by hosting a beach cleanup on August 13, 2022 at 1 pm with the help of Sound Stewards at Freeland County Park at 1535 E. Shoreview Avenue, Freeland. Immediately afterwards there will be an informal gathering at the Picnic Shelter to remember Joanne and enjoy some light refreshments. Volunteers like the Van Pattens are a gift to our island community and we are happy to be part of honoring their legacy.
The beach clean up will be at the park and beach. From 1-2 we will do the clean up then meet at the shelter for refreshments and memorial. You do not need to know the Van Patten family to attend the cleanup. Bring gloves or pickers, we will have bags.
Skip, Matthew and Patti Van Patten invite you to join them in the beach cleanup and/or the reception they are hosting to honor their parent’s commitment to serving the community.
Questions or comments may be sent to Matthew Van Patten @ 301-370-0164 or mattvp@verizon.net.
