Ranger Talk-Species Survival: Resident Killer Whales and Salmon

Stop by Camano Island State Park to hear an informative ranger talk and participate in activities that connect our local waterways to a species that needs our help….salmon! Learn the differences between local orca ecotypes, discuss why the southern residents are so venerable and see how you compare to the size of an orca skull!

Sound Water Stewards will be promoting the new summer educational series, “Baby Salmon Live Here”. We will be highlighting a number of events and activities taking place until Labor Day, designed to get the public connected with all 5 of the local salmon species, their role in our environment, habitat needs, and what is being done to save this species right here in the Stanwood/Camano Island community!
