Mussel-Bagging

October 30 @ 8:00 am November 2 @ 5:00 pm

Sound Water Stewards provide the hands and arms for measuring and bagging mussels for research. Project is outdoors in cool weather — on the beach near Coupeville. Mussels are provided by the nearby Penn Cove Mussels.

Volunteers should fill out a WDFW volunteer profile here. If you have bagged mussels in the past and have already signed up online, you do not need to do a thing. WDFW staff will also have iPads onsite during bagging so that volunteers can register there.

  • Shifts are 8:30 to 12:30 or 1 to 5 pm. We want 8 people per shift.
  • A Transit bus will take you to the shore site where the mussels are. Meet outside the Coupeville Library at either 8:30 or 1 on the day of your shift.
  • Do NOT drive directly to the site because there is no parking there.
  • Spouses are welcome, the more hands the better.

It is FUN! PLEASE let us know that you will be there!
