Topic: Habitat Restoration of Leque Island, Port Susan, and Surrounding Areas.

Speaker: Lindsey Desmul is the Restoration Coordinator for WDFW in the North Puget Sound region.  Lindsey manages habitat restoration projects on WDFW lands that involve the restoration of natural processes to benefit fish, wildlife, and their habitats.  She also coordinates monitoring projects and stewarding them after they are constructed and has produced several short films detailing salmon and restoration in the local area.  Lindsey lives on Camano Island.

The Membership Care Committee:

  • The current focus is on (1) better ways for SWS to more quickly communicate with each other about important events, meetings, activities, etc, which Hadley and Tabitha are working on, and (2) the possibility of having a secondary tier of being involved with SWS without taking VET.

Social Connections update:

  • Looking for someone to take the lead role on this committee
  • Monthly Camano Coffee Hour – would there be any objection to scheduling on the same day as Whidbey’s Coffee Hour (for consistency on the SWS calendar)? Should locations rotate regularly or use just one location?

Steering Committee continues to seek new members:

  • Next meeting is Monday, Feb 5 @ 9:30 am via zoom
