Topic: Island County Aquifers

Speaker: Douglas Morell, (SWS class of 2022) will present an overview of Island County aquifers and associated groundwater supply.  He will address basic principles of hydrogeology as it relates to groundwater aquifers specific to island systems, types of aquifers, their recharge and discharge, saltwater intrusion, and groundwater contamination.  Douglas led a 2023 seminar series on these and other more technical aspects of Island County hydrogeology for SWS members that was greatly informative and appreciated by participants. 

Douglas has a Ph.D. in hydrogeology and M.S. in Geochemistry.  He has over 40 years of professional experience in the field and is retired from being a Principal at Golder Associates, an international consulting firm. He is a Licensed Geologist and Hydrogeologist in Washington State
