Topic: Whidbey Environmental Action Network (WEAN) has actively protected at-risk habitats and ecosystems throughout Island County since the mid 1980’s. WEAN engages in environmental and civic education, policy advocacy, and strategic litigation to protect sensitive ecosystems and our island inhabitants. Recently, as part of a Climate Commitment Act-funded Consortium, WEAN has engaged in comprehensive planning advocacy with Island County. The most recent step in this process has been to survey Island County residents on environmental priorities in preparation for a February 19th Planning Commission presentation. Sound Water Stewards will receive a preview of these survey results, updates from WEAN’s collaboration with fellow Consortium members Island Roots Housing and Agricultural Resources Committee of Island County, and a general report about how WEAN is evolving to expand partnerships in our community going forward.
