An Orca Action Month Virtual Event: 4-7pm PST

Join Orca Network and the Penn Cove Water Festival Association for a virtual Orca Action Month event! This event brings together Coast Salish culture and Southern Resident Orca culture, both of which revolve and have evolved around Pacific NW salmon for many generations. We will focus on aspects of the traditional Penn Cove Water Festival such as the Native Opening Ceremony, dance and song, and storytelling.

The event will also include presentations highlighting the importance of salmon and orcas to the Coast Salish people and look at the parallels between the culture, diet and sacredness of salmon to the Coast Salish and the Southern Resident orcas. The critical need for salmon, shared by both orcas and Coast Salish peoples who depend on them for survival, is vital as salmon are truly the lifeblood of the Pacific Northwest.  Click here for more information.
