Board Term 2021-2023

Paul joined SWS Class of 2020. Retired to Whidbey after living the prior 19 years in Colorado, other years in TX, OR, MA, RI, VA.

Board Member 2021-2023; on Education, Science pillar committees, fund development committee, co-lead Whidbey bluff studies (N. Whidbey) committee. Leads Forage fish surveys at Hidden Beach.

Raised in Western MA, Vietnam era veteran, BS, U. Wash, MS/PhD, Brown: Geologist Micropaleontologist, stable isotope geochemist as applied to paleoceanography/paleoclimate.  NRC postdoc for the USGS in Woods Hole followed by a career in the Oil and Gas industry, returning to paleoceanography in the mid-90s in Ocean Drilling program. Paul also taught High School for 5 years in Houston and Austin before moving to Colorado in 2001. He has led the Denver Climate Study group forum and discussion/web page group for the past 12 years and taught OLLI courses on climate change: concerns and solutions for the prior 6 years in CO. His goals are to live and educate about sustainable practices related to climate change and needed changes in decarbonizing our way of living and sequestering carbon by all possible means, his favorite way in promoting Biochar.
