Kris Holley joined Sound Water Stewards in 2019 and serves as the President for the Board of Directors. She is a pharmacist by training and currently works at PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham as an emergency medicine/critical care clinical pharmacist. Kris joined Sound Water Stewards to learn more about her surrounding environment when she moved to Whidbey Island in 2018 and to make connections with like minded people. Her goal was to have a more ecologically friendly homesteading operation but took a deep dive into leadership within the organization as the Lead Facilitator for Volunteer, Education and Training for the 2020 year and part of the 2021 year. This was challenging as we had to pivot from a fully in person learning experience to an online learning platform while still offering safe field experiences. She volunteers with several partner organizations including: Green Crab Team, Orca Network and Salish Sea Guillemot Network. Kris hopes her tenure on the Board of Directors will include a more expansive approach to diversity and equity in our volunteer base, moving the needle closer to an impact model for the organization and serving the needs of our growing community, partners and membership. Kris and her spouse Landon plus their family of animals recently moved from Whidbey to rural Sedro Woolley.
