Hi Stewards!
At the end of June, I will be promoted to volunteer! In my “other” job, I have been transferred by the Navy to work at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) helping to program and run their events as well as guide adventures. This, combined with the next phase in the construction of my home, made it clear that I needed to take some responsibilities off my plate. With the addition of Tina on Camano and Tabitha wanting more hours, we decided it was time to back down for a while and leave the education programming in their capable hands.

I will spend the month of June building out the education kits to be simple grab-and-go bins and making videos explaining how they are used. I have also simplified what we are offering to groups wanting classes to a menu of items that have worked well in the recent past. Groups can choose from that menu now that the COVID restrictions are not as unpredictable and we can plan accordingly. (Thank goodness)
The last four years have been a wonderful experience filled with lots of laughs and new friendships as well as many challenges as we navigated the crazy waters of programming during a pandemic. Our team was strong, flexible and made it work, even when it seemed impossible. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated your comradery as we moved through these uncertain times!
I look forward to serving in your ranks as a volunteer and helping to get SWS more involved with the Navy families at NASWI. There are no goodbyes here, something that I am thankful for, and I will see you out there enjoying this beautiful place that we call home.
All the best,
Allie Hudec, Education Coordinator
