Camano Preparedness Group will be doing a series of trainings at the Cama Center Great Hall for Park Staff, volunteers, and concessionaires. Each will be ~ 1-2 hours long and will provide information on what to do in case of natural disasters.

EARTHQUAKES & THE NW FAULTS

How does our earth work? What are the different types of earthquakes and the different ways they affect the land.  What should we expect if “The Big One” hits our area? How much devastation can we expect, how long it will take to get services back on line, and how do we prepare?

VOLCANOES IN OUR BACKYARD

There are 5 volcanoes in Washington.  What are their types and what is their history? This program also discusses what to expect and how to prepare if any of our local volcanoes erupts.

Weather/Climate – Are We Ready?

May 25, 2023 (1 pm start time)

What forces affect weather? What conditions are predicters of fair vs foul weather? ( The definition of what constitutes fair and what constitutes foul, of course, depends on the views of the individual involved.) What are the hazards of the various types of severe weather? How do we prepare for/deal with the consequences of severe weather?
